Eva is a nine month Labrador retriever who was born without fully developed hips. Her veterinarian recommended low impact exercise such as swimming to build Eva's muscles while not bearing too much weight on her weak legs. Since Eva's family does not have a pool, they decided to investigate whether a dog wheelchair could assist Eva. Her veterinarian agreed that it would be a good idea and assist Eva in getting the exercise she needs.
Eva is a faithful companion to her owner - a veteran who recently served two tours in Iraq. Facing financial difficulties and still awaiting compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Eva's owner turned to the Handicapped Pets Foundation for assistance.
The Handicapped Pets Foundation was honored to provide assistance by granting Eva's owner a Walkin' Wheels for Handicapped Pets. Now, she is getting the exercise she needs to maintain strength in her rear legs.
